Vineta Festspiele Zinnowitz

Legend has it that right in front of Koserow, the ancient city of Vineta lies beneath the sea, submerged by storm floods hundreds of years ago – according to some people, as a punishment for the moral decline of the city and especially for the greed, belligerence and hubris of its inhabitants.

“If you are a Sunday child, then on an Easter morning you can still see the city of Vineta, which perished many, many years ago, rise from the water…” So says the legend of the sunken city of Vineta. Every summer, the city rises up from the Baltic sea and onto the forest stage in Zinnowitz with a fantastic theatre show. With music, dance, song and lots of pyrotechnical effects, every year you can experience a different episode in the story of the sunken city.

In this year’s “Elf Play”, the elf warrior Gunara will show her daughters what life on our Planet Earth is like. And thus the eternal play of love, revenge, arrogance, ascension and descent will begin again.
